Happy Hour: Slow Food Style

February 25, 2018 by Abby Landry

Slow Food Asheville is excited to announce a first for the chapter that we like to call, Happy Hour. This idea was brought about as a way to bring together our chapter members, followers in the community, a chef and a farmer.

The concept is simple – show up the evening of the event, eat some delicious appetizers, have a drink of your choice and mingle with all those involved in Slow Food Asheville.  During the hour, we will be honoring chef Michelle Bailey of Smoky Park Supper Club.  She will take a few minutes to meet us outside of the busy kitchen and share some words about what the concept of “farm to table” means to her.  Along with us will be Christina Carter from Ten Mile Farm in Old Fort, NC.  We are honored to have her visit the event and also share with us what the “farm to table” concept means for her business and way of life.

So, are you ready to slow down, enjoy a world of slow food and good company while taking in the views of the beautiful French Broad River?

Mark your calendar.

When:  Thursday, March 22 from 5:30-6:30pm.

Where:  Smoky Park Supper Club in the River Arts District of Asheville.

Who:  All those loving Slow Food Asheville, Smoky Park Supper Club and Ten Mile Farm.  We also warmly welcome anyone interested in learning about responsible ways of eating and how to support the ones that make sure we have good, clean and fair food for all!

How much:  Light appetizers will be provided but it’s up to you to get your drink on.  All food and drinks will be prepared for us by the team at Smoky Park Supper Club.

Stay up to date on the details by following the Slow Food Asheville Facebook event page, here.  From there you can let us and all your friends know if you are *Going or *Interested.  We hope to see you soon.

Cheers!

Who We Are

Slow Food Asheville is a local chapter, or “convivium,” of the international Slow Food movement. Local groups are called “convivia” because they bring together, in a convivial and enjoyable way, people who love food and traditions. Our convivium was founded in March, 2003.
