Communities

Slow Food Foothills

Based in Polk County in the Foothills region of North Carolina, this Slow Food community actively brings people together around food in a number of ways, including seasonal potlucks hosted at venues across the county, involvement in the project Grow Food Where People Live, and other initiatives.

Mission Statement: Slow Food Asheville Foothills promotes and preserves the food culture of our region through the relationships between farmers, the table, families, and the community with whom we share our food.  Contact Patrick McLendon of Slow Food Foothills.

Who We Are

Slow Food Asheville is a local chapter, or “convivium,” of the international Slow Food movement. Local groups are called “convivia” because they bring together, in a convivial and enjoyable way, people who love food and traditions. Our convivium was founded in March, 2003.
