“Vanishing of the Bees” Movie Screening and Awareness Evening

Join Slow Food UNCA & Slow Food Asheville, in collaboration with, Mountain Voices Alliance, Friends of Honeybees, and the WNC Honeybee Research Center for an essential viewing of this documentary.

We are asking for a $5 donation to view the film, which will help fund the WNC Honeybee Research Center, and a $5 donation for a plate of food prepared by some of Asheville’s finest chefs, which will help fund both Slow Food chapters.

We will raffle off Ashley English’s new “Keeping Bees” book at intermission.  Raffle tickets are $1 each.

*Upon arrival, we will have a free honey tasting for you to enjoy.

*Movie will start at 6:15pm

* 10 minute break at 7:45pm with raffle

*We will have three extremely knowledgable speakers, who will give a speech and answer questions at 7:55pm

Speakers:
Carl Chesick: is on the Board of Directors for the Buncombe County Bee Club and Buncombe County Bee School. He is now the Director of Center for Honeybee Research.

Calvin Robinson:  Is past president and board member of the Buncombe County Beekeepers Chapter of the NC State Beekeepers Association. Holds office as a Mountain Regional Director on the board of the NC State Beekeepers Association.  Is the Secretary of the North Carolina Honey Board, and is a board member of the Center for Honeybee Research.

Lady Spirit Moon Cerelli: Certified Beekeeper and owner of Bee Healing.Org. Is a natural beekeeper and an educator. Lady is also the Ambassador at Large, and board member for the Center for Honeybee Research. Slow Food International has allowed Lady to connect with beekeepers from around the world in the capacity of Ambassador. She still maintains those connections while her global list of beekeepers and professionals grow.

Directions and link to Reynolds High: From I-40: take the Bat Cave Exit (from 240 East -go under 40 and continue straight) on to 74A East. Go under the Parkway. In about 3 miles you will see the Reynolds Fire Dept. on the right. At the next light take a right on Rocket Drive. (You can’t miss it. Look for the big Rocket, but if you get to Ingles you passed it.) The middle school is on the right. The high school is on the left.

Park in the lot past the buses. Come in the front doors. The minitorium is on the right in the main hallway.
