Bill Best is director of the Sustainable Mountain Agriculture Center in Berea, Kentucky. Best saves seeds grown and cherished by Appalachian families, helping to preserve mountain culture and biodiversity. He has saved more than 700 varieties of heirloom beans.
Peter Kent, a volunteer with Slow Food Asheville and the Appalachian Food Storybank, traveled to Berea to speak with Best. Kent captured a few of Best’s stories on video, and we are able to share them with you here. Please take a few minutes to enjoy these short clips!
