LEAP Farm Fundraiser for Slow Food Foothills

October 17, 2012 by admin

Slow Food Foothills Fundraiser at LEAP Farm will take place on October 28th from 2:00-6:30pm

We are celebrating our first birthday by including farm tours and fundraising at this event, though it COSTS NOTHING TO ATTEND as it is a traditional monthly potluck gathering. The difference being, we expect 200 people! Many fundraising “add-ons” will be on-hand that day: the meats from the cooker, local hops and vines, wood-fired breads and pizza’s, and our FIRST EVER HARVEST SALE.

Event Timeline: Sunday, October 28

2:00 – 4:00 — Farm tours and tips

2:00 – 6:30 — HARVEST SALE

4:30 – 6:30 — Potluck Dinner with live music from New Five Cents

Our October Slow Food Foothills potluck is always held on LEAP Farm in Mill Spring, where SFF was founded and kicked off last October. This year it will be held on October 28th, from 2pm to 6:30pm.

HARVEST SALE donations are accepted NOW. Please contact us at info@slowfoodfoothills.org with what you are willing to donate or help rustle up from within our regional community. These items should come in labeled, wrapped or displayed to sell and PRICED and should arrive with you on the day of the event unless other arrangements are needed. These items should be food or food-related and represent the Slow Food philosophy. Please save the date to this event and PLEASE help us make the fundraising portion of this potluck a success by donating Harvest Sale items. We would like our Harvest Sale Table to have 100 items on it for people to choose from.

ITEMS LIKE: Canned or preserved foods, jams, jellies, chow chow, relish, pickled foods, home-made pies, quiches, casseroles, soups, crackers, flatbreads, baked bread, fresh fruits and produce from area farms like apples, greens, in baskets, honey, herb-tinctures, farm-to-table restaurant certificates, local beers and wines, coupons for meats from local farms, eggs, cookies, bars, cakes, sauces, spreads, cheeses, chutneys, granolas, cereals, dried foods, mushrooms, mushroom logs, jerkies, fruit bars, candies, chocolates. And food-related items like kitchenware, pottery, cookware, aprons, and gardening items like composters, tools, gloves, so on and so on. It is so much fun this year to plan for Harvest and Holidays, feasting, and time indoors with family.

Sponsorships associated with this event include: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/284526

Slow Food Tiller: $15, Bumper Sticker, Name artfully displayed at event, listed on slowfoodfoothills.org, and small local goods gift basket.

Slow Food Sower: $30, Bumper Sticker, Name artfully displayed at event, listed on slowfoodfoothills.org, and medium local goods gift basket.

Slow Food Harvester: $60, Bumper Sticker, Name artfully displayed at event, listed on slowfoodfoothills.org, and large local goods gift basket.

Save the date, bring a friend, sponsor or donate a harvest sale item and help raise fun and funds for our slow food in community!

All proceeds benefit the projects of Slow Food Foothills: Gleaners for Good, Slow Food in Schools, Community Outreach, Sustainable Gardening Workshops, Cooking, Canning and Preserving Courses, Appalachian Food Storybank and FEAST: a slow food cooking class project for students in local schools.
