Autumn Harvest Cooking Class for People with Physical Disabilities

November 15, 2011 by admin

November 30th, 1:00pm-3:30pm; at Laurel’s Kitchen in MANNA Food bank 627 Swannanoa River Rd., Asheville, NC 28805-2445 (it will be in the last warehouse bldg. on your right)
Join the Slow Food Asheville FEAST program as we get together with the MS community of WNC and learn how to prepare a heart-warming healthy soup and savory muffins……oh, and don’t forget all the fun we will have together!

Learn cooking techniques, health benefits of the ingredients, and how to cook a quick healthy meal with ease. We will discuss adaptive tools and tips for assistance in the kitchen.  After cooking, we can all sit down together and enjoy our wonderful meal!  We will have containers available for everyone to take home some leftovers, along with the recipes.  We will also have a recipe for some holiday sweet treats!

This class is a fundraiser for the Slow Food Asheville FEAST program; all proceeds go to FEAST.

Everyone with a physical disability is welcome to participate. The cost is $25/person.  Class size is limited to 15, so please RSVP to Leslie Newman at MScommunityWNC@gmail.com  or call 828-772-4920.
Scholarships are available through the National MS Society; please contact Luanne Kirkland at Luanne.Kirkland@nmss.org if interested.

Who We Are

Slow Food Asheville is a local chapter, or “convivium,” of the international Slow Food movement. Local groups are called “convivia” because they bring together, in a convivial and enjoyable way, people who love food and traditions. Our convivium was founded in March, 2003.
