Call for new Slow Food Asheville Board Members!

December 20, 2010 by admin

We are looking for folks who have a love of food and a commitment to our food community to apply to be on the Slow Food Asheville Board of directors. This board is a very active one. We meet once a month for our board meeting and we have at least one event a month that we ask board members to try to attend. We have ongoing programs like FEAST, 10% Local Campaign, and Heritage Foods Biodiversity that we ask board members to be involved in. We also work with other organizations in our community to put on educational events and fundraisers such as the Beer and BBQ Festival raising money for the NC Organic Bread Flour Project, and the sponsorship of the Asheville Food and Environmental Film Festival. There is definitely a time commitment involved in being a member of this board – but it is worth it!!

If you are interested in helping to work towards a food system that is equitable sustainable and delicious, please answer the questions that follow.  Send them to [email protected] by November 30, 2010. We will select new board members by the end of this year and new terms will start in January of 2011. Please note that all board members are required to be members of Slow Food USA.

Thank you!
Cathy Cleary
Slow Food Asheville Board President

Who We Are

Slow Food Asheville is a local chapter, or “convivium,” of the international Slow Food movement. Local groups are called “convivia” because they bring together, in a convivial and enjoyable way, people who love food and traditions. Our convivium was founded in March, 2003.
